Iliada Game Studio Review

There’s never been a better time to dive into the world of 6 mm war gaming.  There’s a wide variety of miniature and terrain manufacturers providing nearly everything you could want in nearly every genre.  The hobby has long been dominated by metal and plastic miniatures, though recently laser cut MDF has become popular for terrain.  Even more recent is its use in miniatures.

I recently came across Iliada Game Studio on Facebook and thought to give their product a closer look. Iliada Games Studio makes available 6 mm terrain that fits sci fi and modern settings. They also offer a variety of bridges, communication or power pylons, buildings, and futuristic tanks.

The buildings and vehicles arrive on sprues and so require assembly.  This was my first time working with MDF terrain and vehicles, so it was a bit of a learning curve for me.

Overall, I’m pleased with the results.  Some of the vehicles were a bit tricky to put together, though grew easier with a bit of practice.  The buildings were fairly straightforward.

I used some of the buildings in a recent test of Ages of Conflict.  I haven’t yet painted the buildings, so they are still white.

Below is a medium-sized building alongside a stand of 6 mm Games Workshop Space Marines and a land raider.  The buildings scale very well.

Next up are a few vehicles – a selection of tanks, walkers, and gunships.  (The gunships are not yet painted.)

There is a wide variety of vehicles- some tracked, and others wheeled.  Mounted weapons include cannons, infantry guns, and missile turrets.

The walkers are two to three times the height of the typical vehicle.

I really like what Ali from Iliada Game Studio has to offer and he continues to expand his selection. I will certainly be ordering more as I begin to build out a 6 mm sci fi table. Be sure to check out his Facebook page for his latest.
